Thank you to the parents/carers who nominated themselves to become Parent Governors at Rhosnesni and to everyone who voted for their preferred nominee/nominees in the recent ballot.

The parental ballot ended on 6th December and we’d like to confirm the new Parent Governors are:

S Hughes, Parent/Guardian of Ieuan, Year 9

I am a Flying Start lead and Forest School leader. I have had many years experience working in the community and have been a parent governor in a local school for 3yrs. I am also a designated safeguarding lead and am aware of the ALN code of practice for wales and the new curriculum.

L Owen, Parent/Guardian of Taya-Mai, Year 7

I am a parent of a Year 7 child and a teacher by profession with over 20 years experience. For the past 9 years I have worked in an Advisory Role working with and supporting many families, children and childcare settings in our local community. I am knowledgeable with Additional Learning Needs and work in a person centred way. At the heart of my practice is ensuring ALL children receive the very best. I have previously been a Governor at another school and would love the opportunity to work in partnership representing the parent voice at Rhosnesni High.

S Petett, Parent/Guardian of Luke, Year 7

I am Father of 4 children (2 now adult).  I have been a Community Children’s Nurse for 35 years regularly supporting schools and now managing a Children’s Diabetes Service. I have been parent governor at Barker’s Lane Primary School for 4 years and am now Local Authority Governor there. I am assistant leader for Gwersyllt Beavers/Cubs/Scouts groups. I have found that this experience has helped in my role and ability to support Barker’s Lane as Governor which I find extremely rewarding and would be very exited to extend this as part of governing body at Rhosnesni High School.

C Smith, Parent/Guardian of Rya and Luc Y8 & 10

I work in law enforcement for a government office, collaborating with partners to deliver opportunities to tackle crime. Previously I was appointed to an independent board for a prison, to scrutinise the operational running, work with the Governance, safeguarding inmates and staff. My children’s journey at RHS has not always been smooth. I’ve had to raise concerns and seek support at times. I’d like to understand the system and leadership, and have the right information about their education. As a parent governor I commit to working with the school, supporting parents.I’ll challenge and be accountable for decisions taken as a governing body.

We look forward to welcoming them at their first meeting and thank you all for your support.

Kind regards

Team Rhosnesni
